Meet Suzie Roberts
My name is Suzie Roberts, and I am a Medicare health insurance broker proudly serving Colorado and beyond. My primary focus is helping individuals whoare turning 65, currently on Medicare, or transitioning from SSDI into Medicare navigate their options with clarity and confidence.
Although I am based in Northern Colorado, I am also licensed to serve clients in Colorado, California, Texas, and Michigan, allowing me to help families across multiple states.
As the wife of a retired United States Navy Chief Petty Officer, I have a strong understanding of how Medicare works alongside VA benefits and TRICARE for Life. Coordinating these benefits correctly is essential, and assisting military families and veterans in understanding how these systems work together is one of my specialties.
After many years in the insurance industry, I chose to build my own practice so I could provide a more personalized, education-focused approach. My goal is to ensure you understand your coverage, avoid costly mistakes, and have a trusted advisor you can rely on whenever questions arise.
If you are approaching Medicare or simply need guidance, I am here to help.
Our approach
We walk you through the entire Medicare process from start to finish:
Medicare 101: We begin with a simple, easy-to-understand session that explains how Medicare works, what each part covers, and what options are available to you.
Personalized needs assessment: We review your doctors, prescriptions, budget, travel habits, and any anticipated healthcare needs so your coverage truly fits your situation.
Recommended options: After identifying the plans that best align with your needs, we explain each recommended option clearly and answer all of your questions.
Enrollment assistance: We help you complete and submit enrollment paperwork correctly and on time.
Clear guidance. Personalized recommendations. Confident enrollment.
We're so glad we met Suzie Roberts! She helped us make informed decisions about our Medicare needs! She educated us and answered all of our questions. We'd recommend her any day.

Healthy Eating for Seniors: Nourishing the Body and Mind
As we age, our nutritional needs change â but the importance of healthy eating only grows stronger. For seniors, good nutrition isnât about dieting or restriction. Itâs about fueling the body, supporting independence, and maintaining energy for everyday life.
Why Nutrition Is So Important
A balanced diet can help:
Support heart health
Maintain muscle strength
Improve immune function
Enhance memory and brain health
Promote better digestion
Maintain a healthy weight
As metabolism slows and muscle mass naturally decreases with age, seniors often need fewer calories but more nutrients meaning every bite should count.
Key Nutrients
đ„Š 1. Protein
Protein helps maintain muscle mass and strength. Good sources include:
Lean meats
Eggs
Greek yogurt
Beans and lentils
Fish
Spreading protein throughout the day (instead of eating most of it at dinner) can help the body use it more efficiently.
đ„Ź 2. Fiber
Fiber supports digestion and heart health. It also helps regulate blood sugar.
Sources include:
Oatmeal
Whole grains
Fresh fruits
Vegetables
Beans
đ„ 3. Calcium and Vitamin D
These nutrients are essential for bone health. As we age, bone density can decline, increasing the risk of fractures.
Sources include:
Dairy products
Fortified plant milks
Leafy greens
Safe sun exposure (for vitamin D)
Your healthcare provider may recommend supplements if levels are low.
đ 4. Healthy Fats
Omega-3 fatty acids can support heart and brain health.
Look for:
Salmon
Sardines
Walnuts
Flaxseed
Disclaimer
Every senior has unique health needs. Conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, or digestive issues may require specialized nutrition plans.
Always check with your doctor or a registered dietitian before making significant changes to your diet. They can help create a plan tailored to your specific health needs.
Prescription Drugs
Medicare prescription drug coverage â known as Part D â continues to evolve in 2026. If you rely on Medicare for your medications, itâs important to understand how plan choices, costs, and new rules may affect your budget and care this year.
đ Fewer Plan Choices, Same Core Benefit
The number of standalone Part D drug plans has continued to shrink as some insurers exit the market or scale back their offerings for 2026. Most areas now have fewer options than in prior years, though several plans remain for beneficiaries to choose from.
Whether you get your prescription coverage through a standalone Part D plan or a Medicare Advantage plan that includes drug coverage, you still have choices but you may want to review them carefully during open enrollment each fall.
đ° What You Could Pay for Drug Coverage
Hereâs how the potential costs break down in 2026:
đ Deductible
Part D plans can have a deductible, but it cannot exceed $615 in 2026.
Some plans choose to have no deductible at all, so the amount you pay before coverage starts depends on your specific plan.
đ Out-of-Pocket Cap
In 2026, the maximum youâll ever pay out of pocket for covered Part D prescription drugs is $2,100.
Once you reach this cap through deductibles, copays, and coinsurance, your plan pays 100% of covered drug costs for the rest of the year.
đ Premiums
Monthly Part D premiums vary by plan and by location â some are higher in 2026 compared to prior years, while others may be more competitive.

đł GoodRx
GoodRx provides free coupons that can reduce the cash price of certain medications at participating pharmacies. Sometimes, the coupon price may even be lower than your copay under your insurance plan.
đł SingleCare
SingleCare is another free discount card program that offers savings on many prescription medications. Just like GoodRx, you present the card (or coupon) at the pharmacy when paying cash.
đ Manufacturer Assistance Programs
Some pharmaceutical companies offer assistance programs for individuals who meet certain income requirements. These programs may significantly reduce costs for brand-name medications
Pickleball CrazeâŠ..
Why Seniors Love Pickleball đ
It seems like everywhere you turn these days, someone is talking about pickleball â and for good reason. Seniors across the country are falling in love with this fast-growing sport because it combines activity, connection, and health benefits in one enjoyable package.
1. Itâs Fun and Easy to Learn
Pickleball is often described as a blend of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. The court is smaller than a tennis court, the paddle is lightweight, and the ball moves at a manageable pace.
That means:
Less running compared to tennis
Easier on the joints
Quick to learn, even for beginners
Many seniors appreciate that they can pick it up without needing years of athletic experience.
2. Itâs a Social Activity
One of the biggest reasons seniors love pickleball isnât just the exercise â itâs the community.
Pickleball is typically played in doubles, which encourages:
Conversation
Teamwork
Laughter
New friendships
Local recreation centers and community courts often host open play times, making it easy to meet others. For many retirees, pickleball becomes a regular social gathering â something to look forward to each week.
Staying socially active is just as important as staying physically active, and pickleball offers both.
3. The Health Benefits
Pickleball provides a fantastic, low-impact workout. Regular play may help:
Improve cardiovascular health
Increase balance and coordination
Strengthen muscles
Maintain bone density
Support mental sharpness
Because itâs engaging and enjoyable, many seniors stick with it â and consistency is key when it comes to long-term health benefits.
4. It Boosts Mental Well-Being
Exercise releases endorphins, which naturally improve mood. Add in the social interaction and friendly competition, and pickleball can be a wonderful way to reduce stress and combat feelings of isolation.
Many seniors report feeling more energized and motivated once they make pickleball part of their routine.
A Friendly Reminder
While pickleball is a wonderful activity for many seniors, itâs always important to check with your doctor before starting any new exercise program. Everyoneâs health situation is different, and your physician can help determine if pickleball is the right activity for you.
Start slowly, wear proper footwear, warm up beforehand, and listen to your body.
